Interview Alexander Yeung

My photography style is minimalism, sentimental and portraiture. I studied Visual Communication Design and learned about the minimalism of design. The university taught me the basics of lighting techniques and the rest I taught myself.

In late 2018 I officially started with my own photography. During that time I was working on a personal project about masculinism. I started photographing different men, talked to them, understood each story and with proper art direction took their photos. The resulting photos mainly focused on the mood, expressions and sentimental side of the men. Since then, all my photos show emotion, not just graphic effects.

I enjoy every single moment of creating a beautiful image. I think a photo is good when it tells a story. Everyone has their own way to explore photography, but I do want to encourage photographers to practice more. When you have new ideas and thoughts, pick up a camera and do it.
